step 1:
form 2 parallel loops and pin them together
the second loop can be shorter than the first, but that is not
necessary or even particularly important.
The loop on the bottom will be the first ear. Both loops on the
top are internal structural loops
step
2:
insert the working end through the second and first loops
the new loop just created by this action is the middle (second)
ear
step 3:
bring the path of the working end down and over the bottom part of
the knot, then through the ear you just created
step
4:
bring the path of the working end back under the bottom part of
the knot, then through the first 2 loops
step
5:
insert the working end through the first loop
step
6:
bring the path of the working end down and over the fixed end,
then through the bottom of the 2 starting loops
step 7:
bring the path of the working end back under the fixed end, then
back through the first loop
step
8:
carefully tighten up the knot by pulling on the ears and ends
step
8a:
shape the centre of the knot to make sure the knot has been formed
correctly
step
8b:
work the extra slack through the centre to the ends, making sure
that the central structure remains more or less intact during the
process
