:The 2x3 Bao Knot (二寶三套結, 二宝三套結)

  1. step 1step 1:

form 3 parallel loops and pin them together
the second loop can be shorter than the first, and the third shorter still, but that is not necessary or even particularly important unless you are really running out of string.
The loops on the bottom will be the first and second ears. All the loops on the top are internal structural loops

  2. step 2step 2:

insert the working end through the top loops
the new loop just created by this action is the middle (third) ear

  3. step 3step 3:

bring the path of the working end down and over the bottom part of the knot, then through the ear you just created

  4. step 4step 4:

bring the path of the working end back under the bottom part of the knot, then back through the top loops

  5. step 5step 5:

insert the working end through the first and second top loops (also known as all the top loops except for the last)

  6. step 6step 6:

bring the path of the working end down and over the fixed end, then through the second bottom ear loop

  7. step 7step 7:

bring the path of the working end back under the fixed end, then back through the first two top loops

  8. step 8step 8:

insert the working end through the first top loop

  9. step 9step 9:

bring the path of the working end down and over the fixed and, then through the first bottom ear loop

  10. step 10step 10:

bring the path of the working end back under the fixed end, then back through the first top loop

  1. step 11tightening step 1:

carefully tighten up the knot by pulling on the ears and loose string ends

  2. step 12step 2:

shape the centre of the knot to make sure the knot has been formed correctly, then work the extra slack through the centre to the ends, making sure that the central structure remains more or less intact during the process
